yoopsie + twitter
a match made in heaven

There's now a new way to search for UPC barcodes... all you need to do is tweet.

Using your favorite Twitter client, just tweet: @yoopsie followed by the UPC and in about one minute Yoopsie will search and respond based on what he finds.

For example, tweet:

And in about one minute, you'll get a reply that looks something like this:
The first link it will return is to the product, and the second link is to an image of the product if one exists.

By default we will search the Amazon.com US store. If you want to search a different one, just follow the UPC with #locale: and the country code.

For example, to search the Amazon.com UK store:

The countries we support are: CA, DE, FR, UK, and US.

While we think that's pretty cool, we have something even cooler. Say you want to send us a picture of the barcode and have us scan it for you. If your Twitter client supports sending images to twitpic, tweetphoto, or yfrog... we can!

For example, with a steady hand, take a picture of the barcode you want to scan.

0.

And then in your Twitter client, reply to @yoopsie:

1.

Choose the photo you snapped in step 0 (or take a photo now):

2.

And then send it!

3.

4.

And after a minute... you should get a reply.

5.
